Manuel Rivera-Alsina, MD, MBA

About

After earning his medical degree and finishing his internship and residency, Manuel Rivera-Alsina, MD, MBA, RDMS, FACOG, FACPE, completed a three-year fellowship in maternal fetal medicine (perinatology) at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. He is board certified in maternal fetal medicine. He entered military service in the 1970's and served in the Army Airborne Rangers. His naval service includes research in lung physiology, casualty evacuation and women's health during deployment. He held many clinical positions through his decorated and distinguished service as a Captain in the Navy, including Seal Team medical officer and obstetrics-gynecology residency program director at Navy Medical Center Oakland and Navy Medical Center San Diego.

After active duty service, he accepted a position as chairman of the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School-Milwaukee. Prior to moving to El Paso, he served as residency program director at Methodist Health System Dallas. Dr. Rivera-Alsina is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and the American College of Physicians Executives, as well as a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, senior member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Investigation.

He has published multiple abstracts, peer-reviewed articles and chapters in books and has been recognized with several national teaching awards. He has donated his time and clinical talents to care for underserved populations.
